Period interior redecoration in Aberystwyth — The Villas

Prepared period interiors, a navy staircase and pale architectural details at The Villas.

Period interior redecoration in Aberystwyth — The Villas

The work at The Villas, Aberystwyth, covered the staircase, landing and adjoining interiors within the wider Old College restoration project. Existing wall surfaces and repairs needed preparation before the navy scheme and pale architectural details could be finished.

The problem found

Existing wall surfaces and repairs needed preparation before the navy scheme and pale architectural details could be finished.

Preparation carried out

I prepared and filled the existing wall surfaces.

Products & finishes used

A challenge solved

I worked around the existing arches, mouldings and fireplace within the contractor teams on the wider restoration.

Working with the period details

The arches, mouldings and fireplace were part of the existing interiors. Preparation and finishing had to follow these details carefully. I carried out the decorating within contractor teams on the wider restoration; The Villas are shown separately from the main Old College building.

The result

The finished navy walls sit alongside pale arches and mouldings, making the shapes of the staircase and landing clear. The same approach continues into the adjoining room and around the smaller architectural details.
