How your information is used.

This page explains the information Abermaw Decorating receives through this website and how it is used to respond to enquiries, prepare and manage decorating projects, send the Colour Confidence Guide, and understand how the website is being used.

Who is responsible for the information?

Abermaw Decorating is responsible for the personal information submitted through this website. Questions about privacy can be sent to dan@abermawdecorating.co.uk.

What information may be collected?

Depending on what you choose to send, this may include:

• your name, phone number and email address;
• the town, postcode or property details relevant to an enquiry;
• the description of the decorating work you are considering;
• photographs you choose to upload;
• the page or project context that led to the enquiry; and
• whether you actively chose to receive optional marketing emails.

For the Colour Confidence Guide, the short form asks only for a first name and email address, plus a separate optional marketing choice.

Why is it used?

Project-enquiry information is used to understand and respond to your enquiry, arrange or prepare for a site visit where appropriate, prepare a quote or proposal, and manage the project through Abermaw Decorating’s quoting and customer-management system (QPQ).

Colour-guide information is used to deliver the guide. Optional marketing emails are only added when you choose that option.

Website measurement

Visits may be grouped by approximate town, region and country using an IP location database on our own server. This is a network estimate, not your exact address, and can be inaccurate on mobile networks or VPNs. Raw IP addresses are not retained in the analytics records. Location data is provided by DB-IP.

A separate optional browser preference can exclude your visits from measurement. It uses a cookie named qpq_analytics_exclude, lasting up to one year, to remember that choice. It is not a visitor identifier. The preference applies to that browser only and can be changed on the website visit preferences page.

The website uses first-party measurement to understand which pages, guides and contact routes are useful. It may record the page path and title, referring website, source or campaign information supplied in the page URL, browser language, screen and viewport width, and interactions such as phone or email clicks, enquiry and guide form start or submit events, case-study and Advice clicks, section views, scroll milestones and active engagement time.

The measurement system does not send the text you type into enquiry or Colour Guide form fields as analytics data. Each measurement event is given a fresh random event identifier and is sent to an Abermaw Decorating analytics endpoint on abermawdecorating.co.uk. The website measurement script itself does not set an analytics cookie or local-storage identifier and sends requests without browser credentials. Normal website hosting and server logs may separately contain technical request information, such as an IP address or browser user-agent, as part of operating and securing the website.

Source, medium and campaign labels may be kept in this tab’s session storage to retain the source of your visit as you move between pages. They expire from use after 30 minutes of inactivity. This does not store a visitor identifier, the full referring link or any form text.

Calls and the AI assistant

If Dan cannot answer, an AI call assistant can take your contact details and a message about the project. The telephone and AI services process what you say so those details can be passed to Dan and recorded in QPQ for follow-up. You can also contact Dan directly by email or message.

Legal bases

Different activities use different legal bases. Enquiry and quotation information is used to take steps at your request before a contract and, where work goes ahead, to perform and manage that contract. Information may also be kept where needed for legitimate business administration or to meet legal obligations. Basic website measurement and security are used for Abermaw Decorating’s legitimate interests in operating, understanding and improving the website, with the information limited to what is useful for those purposes. Optional marketing is based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Photographs

Photographs submitted with an enquiry are used to understand the property and proposed work. They may be retained with the associated enquiry, survey, quote or project record where needed to manage that work. They are not treated as permission to publish them publicly.

Who may process the information?

Information may be processed using the website hosting, email and QPQ systems needed to run the enquiry, quoting, measurement and project process. The forms also use a human-check service, which may process technical browser and network information to prevent spam. Where Cloudflare Turnstile is used, see Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Personal information is not sold to advertisers.

How long is information kept?

Enquiry and project records are kept only for as long as reasonably needed to deal with the enquiry or project and for relevant business, accounting or legal records. Marketing details are kept until you unsubscribe, withdraw consent or they are removed as part of normal list maintenance. Website measurement records are kept only while they remain useful for understanding website performance and are reviewed rather than being intended for indefinite retention.

Marketing choices

Marketing is optional. You can make a decorating enquiry or request the Colour Confidence Guide without agreeing to marketing. If you subscribe, you can unsubscribe from future marketing at any time using the option in the email or by contacting Abermaw Decorating.

Your rights and questions

You can contact Abermaw Decorating to ask about the personal information held about you, request correction, or raise a privacy question. Where applicable, UK data-protection law also provides rights relating to access, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability.

If you remain concerned about how your personal information has been handled, you can also make a complaint to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
