Two-tone living room redecoration in Harlech

Breakfast Room Green around the large window gives this Harlech living room depth, while Dorset Cream keeps the adjoining walls warm and light.

Two-tone living room redecoration in Harlech

This living room formed part of a wider interior redecoration in Harlech. The scheme used Breakfast Room Green as the stronger colour around the wide window, balanced by Dorset Cream on the adjoining walls. Both shades were colour-matched into Johnstone’s Covaplus, with a white ceiling and satin white woodwork to keep the finish clean and consistent.

Colours & finishes

Walls: Johnstone’s Covaplus colour-matched to Farrow & Ball Breakfast Room Green and Dorset Cream. Ceiling: white Johnstone’s Covaplus. Woodwork: white Zinsser AllCoat Satin.

A two-colour scheme with contrast

The deeper Breakfast Room Green was used around the wide window, with Dorset Cream on the adjoining walls. The contrast gives the room a stronger focal wall without making every surface feel dark.

Project video stills

The original still-photo set is no longer available, but these frames from the project video show the actual Harlech room and colour scheme as the work progressed.

The finished scheme

Breakfast Room Green gives the wide window wall a stronger frame, while Dorset Cream keeps the surrounding walls softer and lighter. The white ceiling, window and satin woodwork create a clean break between the two wall colours.
